The rise in opioid prescriptions, particularly drugs like oxycodone and hydrocodone, has contributed to the extensive misuse of both prescribed and over-the-counter opioids. However, it's crucial to understand that prevention, treatment, and recovery are attainable, and we're here to support individuals and their families who are grappling with this epidemic.

The purpose of the "O" Team is to initiate a community-wide effort aimed at making a positive and enduring impact while offering solutions to the Opioid Epidemic in Baytown. Much like NASA, the "O" Team has clear objectives that can be summarized in four words: educate, communicate, rehabilitate, and collaborate.

1. EDUCATE:
   Prevention incorporated at each level of learning and at all employment. 
   Resource awareness within the community. 
   Disease approach as opposed to guilt/shame. 
2. COMMUNICATE:
   Message should unify and be inclusive. 
   News, Radio, Email, Social Media, TV. 
   Utilize Baytonians who have a story.
3. REHABILITATE:
   Funding issue must be removed or mitigated - treatment is expensive!
   Client/patient center(s) with the focus on treatment. Overcome an inpatient NIMBY attitude if it exists. 
4. COLLABORATE:​
   Support law enforcement efforts. 
   Reach out to those imprisoned for drug charges so they too may recover.
