CAN Behavioral Health (CAN) is a Texas 501 (c)3 nonprofit organization headquartered in Baytown, Texas. Since 2007, CAN’s focus has been to make a difference in the lives of adolescents and adults in Baytown and surrounding communities, who suffer from behavioral health, substance abuse and co-occurring disorders and the dysfunction caused by such.
The founder of CAN, John Havenar, is the product of a dysfunctional family unit in which substance abuse and domestic violence impacted his childhood and adolescence. In 2007, with inspiration from his peers, including an ex-offender who struggled with co-occurring substance abuse and a mental health disorder, Mr. Havenar founded Cease Addiction Now, Inc. In 2021, and after realizing the overall need in Baytown was much more comprehensive than substance abuse and addiction alone, Cease Addiction Now, Inc. was rebranded to CAN Behavioral Health (CAN).
CAN’s humble beginning included a zero interest loan from his mother-in-law, donated office space, and a part-time contracted Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor. With a staff of passionate professionals CAN has evolved into a respected agency receiving referrals from judges, attorneys, adult and adolescent probation, doctors, families and friends.
CAN is Licensed by Texas Department of State Health Services as a Substance Abuse Treatment Facility. Licensures: Outpatient # 2538-2538A. Services provided by Medical Doctors are not included and are billed separately.
